Marc Anthony Concert Postponed:
Puerto Rican Marc Anthony has rescheduled his Dominican summer appearance for September 18. His doctor ordered rest to avoid strain on his vocal cords after he suffered a throat infection when traveling to New York City. Anthony was scheduled to perform as part of the Presidente Beer Summer program on August 14 at the Gran Arena del Cibao in Santiago.

 

Dominican Karen Yapoort Wins Miss World Ambar 2009:
Karen Yapoort, representing the Dominican Republic, was chosen Miss World Ambar at the pageant held at the Riu Bambu in Bavaro.  This is the first time a Dominican is chosen in the contest that has been held since the 70s.  28 candidates participating, representing countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa..

Mexican soap filmed in Colonial City:
The Televisa Mexico production team brought the actors of the popular Sortilegio soap to film the scenes around Plaza de Espana in the Colonial City, the sea-bordering Malecon boulevard, Avenida Mella and at the Las Americas International Aiport in Santo Domingo.  Then they headed east to film at the hotel NH Real Arena Punta Cana.  Scenes were also filmed in La Romana and the Saona out island.

The Mexican production is directed by Monica Miguel.  Star roles are by Jacqueline Bracamontes and William Levy.  Other actors are Ana Brenda, Gabriel Soto, David Zepeda, Daniela Romo, David Zepeda, Gabriel Soto and Juan Llanes, among others.

Juan Luis Guerra in Japan:
Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra is stretching his fame just a bit further and and is in Japan on tour. Guerra, who is traveling as part of the "Travesia Tour," was in Fukuoka, Japan, yesterday, where he performed also as part of a promotional campaign by the Ministry of Tourism. Guerra took the stage with the Japanese salsa group Orquesta de la Luz. Guerra will have his next show, on Tuesday, at the Shinkiba Studio COSAT in Tokyo, Japan.
